Welcome to Car Satellite Navigation, the top guide to in car satellite navigation systems in the UK. In car satellite navigation systems are becoming very popular as they make navigating on long journeys much easier as they simply tell you where to go, they have LCD screens which display maps and also often have spoken instructions to make things even easier.

On the Car Satellite Navigation web site we have lots of product guides, we have guides to each type of car satellite navigation system, each brand of car satellite navigation system and also common features to look for when buying an in car satellite navigation system. All of these guides can be found in the menu on the left, each guide contains lots of useful information and links to shops where you can buy that car satellite navigation equipment. These shopping links are very useful as they link directly to the page of the car satellite navigation equipment at the shops web site and they are also listed with the cheapest first so finding cheap car satellite navigation systems is very easy using this web site.

In car satellite navigation systems use a technology called GPS which stands for Global Positioning System, it was developed by the American government and uses 27 satellites that orbit the earth. These GPS satellites orbit the earth in such a way that there are always four satellites visible from any location on earth and the GPS system in the in car satellite navigation system uses these satellites to work out it's current location, they only receive information from the satellites and do not transmit any information. One thing that GPS needs to work is a clear line of sight with the sky so you have to position your in car GPS system so that it can see the sky, some windscreens have heat reflecting windscreens which can block the signal but you can get external aerials if this is the case but other than this GPS systems should work where ever they have a clear line of sight with the sky.

There are many features to look out for when buying an in car satellite navigation system, we have separate guides for these but will run through the basics on this page:

Voice Direction - This is well worth looking out for as it means that the directions of your route will be spoken to you in clear words, for example if you have to take a left turn the unit will actually tell you that there is a left turn on your route and when to take it. Voice direction is very useful as it means you do not have to take your eyes off of the road, this is allot safer and makes driving allot easier too as you are not constantly checking the map on the screen.

Estimated Time of Arrival - This feature works out roughly how long your journey will take and will update this as your journey progresses, it is always nice to know roughly how long it will take to arrive at your destination and is especially useful if you have restless children!

Route Update - In car satellite navigation systems with the route update feature will alter your route if you deviate from the originally planned route, for example if you decide that you do not want to use a certain road or forget to turn off into a road that was on your route then the route update system will take this into account and alter your route from where you are to your destination.

Maps - The maps that come with the in car satellite navigation system do vary, there are two key things to look for with one being the level of detail and the other being the way that the map is displayed. The level of detail is usually to do with Europe, nearly all in car satellite navigation systems have full street mapping of the UK but some also have maps of Europe with some covering only major roads and others having maps for all roads which are far more detailed and include city centre streets.

So for more information on in car satellite navigation systems please choose an option from the menu on the left as each page has useful information and links to where you can buy each kind of satellite navigation equipment for cheap prices.
